Ever wish you could do something over again? Not because it was bad, but because it was AWESOME. Ever wish you were better than you are at something? Ever wish you could take a vacation? Ever been given a wish or 3? When I travel and have the opportunity to take a cab ride, I really enjoy sitting shotgun and visiting with the cabby. If given the opportunity, I like to give the cabby a hypothetical situation of walking on a beach and finding that magical lamp that when rubbed, out pops a genie to grant you 3 wishes – What would you wish for? No matter what city I’ve gone to, I am always amazed by the simplicity of the wishes that are requested by the cab drivers. It is rare for one to ask for millions of dollars, it is rare for one to wish for eternal life, it is rare to have one ask for total happiness, it is rare for one to ask for a new car, house, life, etc…. Instead the majority will wish for a good job, maybe even an old job back. The majority will then wish for vacation and good benefits from the job of the first wish. And the majority will use the final wish to have a beautiful person to spend time off with from the first wish. I can’t even make this stuff up, as a reference, you could ask some fellow goat breeders like Chris Kelln or Tyler DeReu, they have witnessed this carnival first hand. You might be asking what I would ask for – OK – I will play along.
First Wish – World Peace, this might sound cliché, but, every time I turn on the television and watch a news report, regardless of time of day, morning, noon, night, - folks we have some really disturbing things going on in the world outside of ourselves. I have young children and I am fearful of what it might be like for them at my age. I think we are all brought into this world with a void in our life that can only be filled by finding our purpose and I do think our purpose is rooted in faith. Don’t mistake this for me preaching, far from it, but it is my opinion that the Bible is the greatest inspirational and motivational book to have ever been printed. One of the only books I can read multiple times and learn something new as if it were a first time read.
Second Wish – A miracle cure for diseases like cancer. Trillions of dollars have been spent on trying to find a cure and trillions more will probably be spent. I lost my own mother to Cancer just last year. It sneaks up on you like the common cold and gives you false hope of ever really recovering. I am one of billions that have lost a loved one to this uncontrollable disease – it would be great to find a cure!
Final Wish – Infinite wisdom and total financial freedom to spend more time finding out why Noah let goats get onto the boat, knowing that they can’t take care of themselves and spend lots of time in the laboratory trying to remove the “will to die” gene from the goat population.
There it is, my 2 cents on a wish! It is my wish that you find yourself having a better day today than you did yesterday and that you find an attitude of gratitude for life.
